(Video) We're Better Than That (Signs of Fascism)

Masked agents pulling people from their cars. No identification. Unmarked vehicles. No warrants shown, no questions asked. Billions of dollars funneled into ICE while the detention facilities where human beings are held grow more crowded, more squalid, more deliberately cruel. This isn’t border policy. It’s a terror campaign directed at some of our most vulnerable neighbors.

The Justice Department, once a check on executive power, has been turned into a weapon against political opponents. The press, the free press that the First Amendment exists to protect, is being squeezed, bullied, and bought. A handful of friendly outlets amplify the administration’s message while independent journalism is treated as an enemy of the state.

The military deployed against civilians. Immigrants hunted in churches, schools, and hospitals. Political enemies prosecuted. Dissent chilled.

There’s a word for this. Fascism isn’t a metaphor. It’s a system that concentrates power, eliminates accountability, dehumanizes targeted groups, and punishes those who resist. We’re watching that system being assembled in real time, piece by piece, while those in power dare us to say so out loud.

We’re better than this. We can be better than this again. But that requires refusing to look away, refusing to soften the language, and refusing to pretend that what is happening is normal.
