Boca Raton Tribune: Indivisible Boca Raton Protests DeSantis Appeal of Everglades Detention Center Ruling

When a federal judge ordered the Everglades Detention Center shut down within 60 days, the ruling was barely on the books before Governor Ron DeSantis announced his intention to appeal. Indivisible Boca Raton responded by taking the fight to Boca City Hall.

The Boca Raton Tribune covered the group's protest on Saturday, August 30, 2025, held from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the corner of NW 2nd Avenue and West Palmetto Park Road. The demonstration was the latest in more than a month of sustained organizing by the chapter against the controversial Everglades facility.

"We've been out protesting against this disgraceful facility for more than a month," said Myra Kremenitzer, founder of Indivisible Boca Raton. "The ink wasn't even dry on the judge's order and Ron DeSantis was already scoffing at it. We're here to tell him if he wants to keep that fight alive, we're not going anywhere."
