The event commemorated the 40th anniversary of the original 1986 Hands Across America, in which millions of people formed a human chain across the country to raise awareness of hunger and homelessness.
The 2026 demonstration was part of a coordinated national effort organized by Indivisible chapters and allied groups, with communities across the country participating simultaneously.
"Hands Across America 2.0 is about bringing communities together to stand united to save our democracy, support our immigrant neighbors, and show that the will of the people still matters," said Myra Kremenitzer, founder of Indivisible Boca Raton. "This anniversary event reminds us that when people come together for a common purpose, they can inspire extraordinary change."
