South Florida Sun Sentinel: Hundreds Rally Outside Boca Raton Home Depot Following ICE Killing of Renee Good

South Florida Sun Sentinel reporter Shira Moolten covered the January 10, 2026 protest outside the Home Depot on Glades Road in West Boca Raton, where hundreds of demonstrators gathered to demand accountability from ICE following the fatal shooting of Renee Good, a 37-year-old U.S. citizen and legal observer killed by an ICE agent in Minneapolis days earlier. Photographer Mike Stocker documented the scene.

The protest had been organized in advance by Indivisible Boca Raton and Hope and Action Indivisible to demand that Home Depot reject ICE raids targeting undocumented workers at its stores. The shooting of Good transformed the event. Only 50 people had signed up before her death; afterward, more than 400 said they planned to attend. Actual turnout exceeded 200.

Demonstrators carried signs reading "ICE: Innocent Citizen Executioners" and chanted "Say her name! Renee Nicole Good!" The crowd included longtime South Florida activists, first-time protesters, and families. Alyssa Cordisco, 43, brought her 8-year-old daughter and their dog. "I don't know how we could possibly not come," she told the Sun Sentinel. "It is so out of control right now and appalling."

Tessa Petit, executive director of the Florida Immigrant Coalition, addressed the crowd. "Renee Good is one of many," Petit said. "The next day there was another shooting. It is not going to stop until the people of America say, 'it must stop.'"

Several attendees said the shooting of Good had a particular resonance because many protesters, like Good, serve as legal observers during ICE enforcement operations in South Florida. "We're doing exactly what she was doing," said Jennifer Jones of Hope and Action Indivisible. "It definitely hit home."

The event was largely peaceful. One counter-protester was arrested and charged with battery following a physical altercation and transported to the Palm Beach County Jail.
